Dallas Mavericks trade to shake up roster: 1. Land Kyrie

Kyrie Irving has dominated the headlines since he requested a trade, and the Mavs are a rumored suitor. The eight-time All-Star is one of the most talented players in the league, but should Dallas go all-in to acquire him? They cannot afford to because of his inability to stay on the court.

It will be interesting to see how his market develops before Thursday’s trade deadline. Kyrie has played his last game as a Net, and multiple teams in the Western Conference have called Brooklyn about a potential deal.

Dallas should view Irving as a rental. He can become an unrestricted free agent this summer, and there are zero guarantees that he stays with the Mavericks beyond this season. That said, here would be my top offer for Kyrie ahead of the trade deadline.

Irving is the second star that Mavericks have been searching for. He gives them another ball-handler and playmaker that score 25 a night. There would be plenty of drama, but Kyrie is a difference-maker on the court, and he would immediately push Dallas into the title conversation. This trade would be a massive gamble, but one the Mavericks might be willing to take with Luka Doncic producing like the MVP.
