The Dallas Mavericks are working the phones in search of upgrades ahead of the Feb. 9 trade deadline. There have been no shortage of rumors as the front office looks to add more talent and find a second star to pair with Luka Doncic. The Western Conference standings are crowded as Dallas could vault to third or be out of the play-in tournament with a bad week. It is the perfect time to go all-in, but can the Mavs find the right trade?

With two first-round picks available to deal, will they find an All-Star caliber player? Kyrie Irving requested a trade, Zach LaVine could be available, and the Raptors might decide to blow it up. There will be plenty of drama and intrigue ahead of Thursday’s deadline, including the Mavs' decision on what to do with Christian Wood.

The Mavericks need more talent. They would love to add another playmaker and upgrade at the five before Thursday’s deadline, but that will be tough if they are unwilling to part with a first-round pick. Here are five hypothetical deals that would shake up the team’s fortunes this season.

Dallas Mavericks trade to shake up roster: 5. Send C-Wood to LA

Marc Stein reported the Clippers' interest (subscription required) in Christian Wood on Feb. 4. LA needs to upgrade their offense and add some scoring punch. C-Wood is a versatile player that can get buckets from anywhere on the floor. Would Dallas be willing to trade him to a rival? Here is a deal that works for both sides.

The Mavericks love shooting, and they desperately need another playmaker. Luke Kennard is one of the best shooters in the league. Grabbing John Wall and Terance Mann gives Dallas two playmaking options to play in their second unit.

The Clippers do not want to give up Mann, but they do not have a first-round pick available to trade, and they get off some long-term money. LA would not be excited to land JaVale McGee, but he could find his footing under head coach Tyronn Lue and rebuild his value.

Can the Dallas Mavericks and LA Clippers work out a trade that suits both parties? Who knows, but above is one option if the Clippers decide to go all-in on acquiring Wood before Thursday at 2:00 p.m. CT, and here are four other workable deals.
