Dallas Mavericks player most likely to be traded before 2022 deadline: 2. Dwight Powell
Coach Jason Kidd plans to start Powell at the five, but the 30-year-old must prove he is all the way back from his Achilles surgery. DP played in 58 games last season, and he struggled with his explosiveness and athleticism. The 6’10 big man player was better in the final months but was still not back to pre-injury form.
If Powell struggles again this season, the Dallas Mavericks could look to move on. He is making $11 million this season and is set to earn $11.8 million in the 2022-2023 campaign making his salary the perfect mid-range number that can easily be combined with a few young pieces to acquire a $18 to $20 million player.
The Dallas Mavericks love Dwight Powell. He is one of the most active in the community and the team’s representative in the player’s association. They are not just going to let him go for nothing. Last season, Powell was still a dangerous roll man and gave the team energy. Hopefully, he is back to 100 percent and making an impact on both ends of the floor this season.
If not, Powell could be traded before the deadline as the Mavs eye making a deep playoff run.
