Dallas Mavericks player most likely to be traded before 2022 deadline: 4. Josh Green
Green was the Mavs 2020 first round, but he was limited to just 445 NBA minutes as a rookie. The 20-year-old showed flashes in his sparse playing time and will be looking to build on that in his second season.
The Mavericks added Reggie Bullock, Sterling Brown, and Frank Ntilikina this summer to improve their wing depth and perimeter defense making it a difficult fight for minutes. Dorian Finney-Smith and Tim Hardaway Jr. are going to get significant time, which could leave Green on the outside of the nightly rotation for the second straight year.
New head coach Jason Kidd has talked on several occasions about his excitement to help Green develop, but Dallas wants to win now. The pathway to acquiring another rotation piece is moving young players and/or picks. Rebuilding teams will be asking about the 21-year-old, who is fresh off winning a bronze medal with Australia in the Olympics.
Tyrell Terry and Josh Green both fall into this classification. If the Mavs want to maximize their chance to compete for the championship in 2022, it will likely cost them at least one of these two young talents.
