Can the Dallas Mavericks win a bidding war for Zach LaVine?

The Bulls would have to decide in what direction they were headed if they put LaVine on the trade block. Does Chicago try to build around DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic or do they enter a total rebuild? The Mavericks are not going to have the most draft capital to offer, but they could have a strong package centered on picks and role players.

Ultimately, the lack of star talent on the market likely eliminates the Mavs from pulling off a trade for LaVine. The Knicks will offer three first-round picks plus Immanuel Quickley, which is a package that the Mavericks just cannot match until this offseason when they have a full cupboard of first-round picks to trade.

Fischer notes in his piece that players have not had a ton of success picking their destination in trades, despite certain instances standing out in the minds of fans. Zach LaVine may be better off not giving the Bulls a list of teams if they put him on the block as Chicago is going to take the best offer no matter what.
