Thing Dallas Mavericks must do to win Game 3 over Jazz: 1. Keep shooting
The Jazz shot the second-most 3-pointers per game during the regular season, but it is Dallas that has taken 28 more through the first two games. They took 47 in Game 2 and connected on a franchise playoff record 22 to grab the victory.
Utah has given up 46 wide-open 3-pointers in the first two games, and the Mavericks have made 19. The Jazz cannot just shut off the threes. Their defense is not built that way. They could switch out of their preferred drop coverage, which will slow down the wide-open looks some, but going from 23 per game to ten is nearly impossible.
The Dallas Mavericks need to keep shooting. Get inside and kick to an open shooter. They must believe they can make enough open looks to win Game 3 in Utah and put the Jazz further on edge.
Fans will be watching the status of Luka Doncic closely leading up to tipoff, but the Dallas Mavericks can win Game 3 without him. It will not be easy in Salt Lake City, but they just need to stick to their game plan on both ends of the floor. The Mavs have found a winning formula, and now it is all about execution.
