Thing Dallas Mavericks must do to win Game 3 over Jazz: 2. Keep attacking

The Mavs used a similar game plan to one that has foiled the Jazz three straight years in the playoffs to win Game 2. They attacked their guards on the perimeter and forced Rudy Gobert to rotate into the paint to stop a shot at the rim. When he does, they kick out for an open 3-pointer. The Mavericks small ball attack featuring four shooters flanking the ball-handler worked to perfection to even the series without Luka Doncic.

Expect Utah to make some adjustments heading into Game 3, but the Mavs cannot stop attacking their weak perimeter defense. Whether it is Luka or someone else handling the ball for Dallas, they need to keep getting into the paint and forcing Utah’s defense to rotate.

The Jazz are likely going to play more minutes with Danuel House Jr. on the floor because he has been Utah’s best perimeter defender in the series. They need to do something to stop dribble penetration, but it won’t be enough as the Mavericks will keep hunting advantageous matchups.

Attacking the basket will not be enough for the Dallas Mavericks to win Game 3 because Gobert will be looming in the paint. They need to continue the second part of their offensive game plan to take the lead in the series.
