The Dallas Mavericks split the first two games against the Utah Jazz without superstar Luka Doncic. The Jazz stole homecourt, but Dallas earning a split on their home floor without their best player was massive. It took historic performances from Jalen Brunson and Maxi Kleber to win Game 2, but things can still go either way in the series.

Doncic is nearing a return. He continues to ramp up his basketball activities, and the 6’7 guard was upgraded to questionable for the first time since suffering the calf strain on April 10. The Mavs are hopeful their superstar can return in Game 3 or 4, but they are not going to put him out there unless he is 100 percent.

Dallas proved they can win without Luka, but the 23-year-old superstar makes everything easier. Here are five things the Mavericks must do to win Game 3 in Utah with or without Doncic.

Just three teams had a better home record than the Jazz this season, and Utah is going to come out blazing after losing Game 2. Expect monster numbers from Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, and Bojan Bogdanovic, but will it be enough to defeat the Mavs?

Dallas will hunt mismatches and spread the floor, especially when Luka Doncic returns. They will need to play well on both ends of the court if they want to win in Salt Lake City, and here are five things the Dallas Mavericks must do to take Game 3 and a commanding lead in the series.
