Thing Dallas Mavericks must do to win Game 3 over Warriors: 1. Luka being Luka
Doncic is battling an illness and some shoulder pain, but he did not let it impact him in Game 2. The 23-year-old superstar went for 42 points, five rebounds, eight assists, three steals, and one block on 12 of 23 shooting from the field, including making five 3-pointers. It was a masterful offensive performance that was spoiled by poor defense and an incredible run by the Warriors in the third quarter.
Dallas will need a superstar performance from Luka if they are going to win Game 3 and get back into this series. The Warriors smell blood in the water, and teams do not make five NBA Finals appearances and win three championships in eight years without taking advantage of that. Golden State will come out hot on Sunday night, and the Mavericks will need Doncic to go off to stem that tide.
Luka proved again that no team can stop him in Game 2. Doncic got wherever he wanted on the floor, drew fouls, made plays, and got buckets. It was an incredible performance that did not receive enough attention because the Mavericks lost.
Will the Dallas Mavericks win Game 3 at the American Airlines Center? They found a recipe for success on Friday night. Now, the Mavs just need to execute better to grab the victory and get back into the series.
