Takeaway from Dallas Mavericks WCF Game 1 loss to Warriors: 2. Never comfortable

Golden State is not going to let the Mavs get comfortable in this series. They threw a bunch of different defensive looks at Luka Doncic and Dallas in Game 1. There were zones, traps, hedges, switches, blitzes, and full court pressure to try to keep the Mavericks on their toes and uncomfortable. Luka and company got plenty of open looks, especially in the first half, but the shots just were not falling in Game 1.

In the second half, the Mavs got desperate to come back and shot too many 3-pointers. They need to attack the paint more in Game 2 and force the Warriors' defense to collapse. It was a poor offensive performance from the Mavericks, but they will bounce back and be more ready on Friday night.

The Warriors did not let Dallas get comfortable on the defensive end either. They attacked Luka Doncic repeatedly and ran off every missed shot. The Dubs played an outstanding game to take the early edge in the series.

Dallas must play better in Game 2, including having answers for the Warriors on both ends of the floor. How will the Mavericks stop them in transition? Dallas must drive the ball into the paint more on the offensive end, and they have to be ready to attack every action the Warriors threw at them.
