Dallas Mavericks updated small forward depth chart with Justin Holiday

This group is four more wings that are all battling for minutes with the last group and Josh Green.

Starter: Tim Hardaway Jr.

Hardaway Jr. suffered a hamstring injury on Saturday night in Sacramento that kept him out on Monday evening. No word yet on the severity of the injury, but the All-Star break should limit his games missed.

THJ has played better as a starter throughout his time in Dallas, but will that be enough for head coach Jason Kidd to keep him in the opening group? It is something to watch down the stretch and into the postseason.

Backup: Justin Holiday

The Mavericks wanted another rangy wing defender to add to their rotation, and Holiday offers that. He can knock down open shots and defend multiple positions. Expect him to get plenty of opportunities after he joins the team.

Third-string: Theo Pinson

Fans have been pleasantly surprised by Pinson’s play over the last six games. He has been in the rotation every night playing mostly as a small ball four and making a positive impact. Justin Holiday will likely take his place in the rotation, but Pinson will get more chances down the stretch.

Two-way contract: A.J. Lawson

MFFLs have not seen much of Lawson since he signed with the Mavericks back in December. The 22-year-old is on a two-way contract, so he is ineligible to play in the playoffs. Expect Lawson to play some games in the G League down the stretch as the Mavs continue to try to develop the talented 6’6 wing.
