The Dallas Mavericks improved to 11-6 after last night's victory over the Houston Rockets, allowing them to get back on track after a bit of a rough patch.

Luka Doncic dominated this game, as he finished with 41 points and zero turnovers. He and Dillon Brooks were going at it for the whole game, and Dallas came out victorious despite Houston's efforts.

Even though the Mavs are having an excellent start, they may still be one piece away from being true Finals contenders. Their defense and rebounding still aren't great, but there's one player who could be on the trade market that could help solve both of those issues.

Rumors: Mavericks show interest in trade for former fan-favorite wing

Dorian Finney-Smith has been in trade talks ever since the Mavs traded him to the Brooklyn Nets last season, and according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, Finney-Smith has "previously drawn interest" from the Mavs.

Finney-Smith can't get traded back to Dallas until the trade deadline (unless he is traded to another team first), and this is great news that the Mavs have shown interest in him. Mavs fans would be ecstatic if Finney-Smith could return to Dallas, but landing him in a trade may be easier said than done.

It seems that the Nets want multiple first-round picks for him, and Dallas has already been hesitant about trading their 2027 first-round pick. It's clear that Finney-Smith wants to return to Dallas at some point in his career, and Dallas could make it happen this season.

Finney-Smith is having a career year in Brooklyn as he is averaging 10.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game while shooting 44.1 percent from downtown. He has shown massive improvement since arriving in Brooklyn in February, and the Mavs could become a top team in the NBA if they can land him via trade.

After this move, the Mavs would have Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, Dorian Finney-Smith, Grant Williams, and Dereck Lively II all in the starting lineup, with Derrick Jones Jr., Josh Green, and Tim Hardaway Jr. all coming off the bench.

This would be a massive move if Dallas makes it happen, and every fan would likely love to welcome Finney-Smith back to the American Airlines Center.

For all the latest on the Dallas Mavericks this season, stay tuned.
