After Friday night's win over the Atlanta Hawks, the Dallas Mavericks are now 25-20 and sitting in eighth place in the Western Conference.

The Mavs were without Kyrie Irving, but Luka Doncic put on a show as he finished with 73 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists.

The Mavs and Hawks games always seem to bring out the best in Luka and Trae Young, but the Mavs' need for an upgrade on their roster remains, regardless of the outcome of last night's game.

Rumors: Dallas Mavericks in trade 'rumblings' for Warriors forward

The Mavs reportedly want to upgrade at the small forward and power forward positions, and they remain interested in Golden State Warriors wing Andrew Wiggins.

This season for the Warriors, Wiggins averages 12.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 0.3 steals per game while shooting 42.7 percent from the field and 29.5 percent from 3-point range.

His efficiency and scoring numbers are way down, but that's why now could be the perfect time for the Mavs to trade for him. They may also be able to land a sweetener as part of the deal because Wiggins is under contract until at least the summer of 2027. His salary is not ideal, as he is making an average of over $27 million annually.

This is a salary that many teams won't want to absorb, and that could be why many teams in the league don't seem interested in him at this point.

According to The Athletic's Anthony Slater, "those Dallas rumblings [about Wiggins] have been out there." HoopsHype's Michael Scotto also reported that "Dallas has always liked him [Wiggins], and they’re looking to upgrade at the three."

Dallas' interest in upgrading at the small forward position could be just as strong as upgrading at power forward, and the Mavs want to land a player who has some size and can handle the ball. Wiggins fits this mold, and only time will tell if they take this risk and trade for him.
