Why the Dallas Mavericks will win first playoff series since 2011: 1. Luka Doncic

The Mavs are only going as far in the postseason as Doncic leads them. Without Luka, they would be fighting for a spot in the play-in tournament. The 23-year-old is an unquestioned superstar and one of the top ten players in the league. He has the chance to vault into the top five by leading his team on a deep playoff run.

Doncic performs his best when the lights are brightest. He led Slovenia to the Olympics and had them seconds away from advancing to the gold medal game in Tokyo. Luka was lights out in the 2021 NBA playoffs, but Kawhi Leonard was otherworldly to help the Clippers advance. The Mavericks need Doncic playing his best to win a playoff series, and he will rise to the occasion.

It takes playoff disappointments to rise to another level. Luka has failed to advance in two straight, but he and the Dallas Mavericks are ready to ascend to another level in 2022. Their depth, defense, chemistry, and added playmaking will all play key roles in the team winning their first playoff series since 2011.
