Ranking newly acquired Dallas Mavericks: 6. Feron Hunt

Hunt went undrafted in 2021, but the Mavs quickly picked him up out of their backyard of Desoto. He had an encouraging three years with the Mustangs of Southern Methodist University (SMU). Hunt instantly made an impact as a freshman, playing in every game of the season and starting eight.

He established himself as an excellent scorer by dropping 11.1 points per game on 56.0 percent shooting from the field as a junior. Hunt is not afraid to get to the basket and put it in.

The one thing that stands out about his playing style is his ability to rebound. Placing in the top six of the AAC for offensive rebounds and top two for defensive, the ball always seems to end up in his hands.

At 6’8, Feron Hunt will have the opportunity to make an impact in the NBA quickly because of his ability to produce on both ends of the floor.

However, his weight and free throw struggles could become issues. Hunt is only 195 pounds and will be undersized at the four. He shot just 72.4 percent from the foul line for his college career, and the 22-year-old does not it to be the reason he is forced out of the game in crucial moments.
