Ranking Dallas Mavericks offseason moves: 6. Re-sign Boban

Boban Marjanovic became an unrestricted free agent this offseason, but minutes after talks were allowed, he agreed to re-sign with the Mavs on a two-year $7 million deal. The 7’4 big man inked the same deal to come to Dallas back in 2019, and he has made a massive impact since that moment.

Boban can change the game with his sheer size and soft touch around the basket. He averaged just 4.7 points and 3.9 rebounds in 8.2 minutes per game during the regular season, but former coach Rick Carlisle inserted him into the starting five for the team’s final three playoff games. The Clippers were dominating the Mavs by going small, so Dallas countered with the 7’4 big man. Marjanovic played well, but Kawhi and company were just too much.

Bobi makes a massive impact in the Mavericks locker room too. He is close friends with superstar Luka Doncic and is beloved by everyone in the organization. The 33-year-old has an incredible ability to brighten the day of anyone he meets. His positivity and humor have helped the team when times get tough.

It was a massive win for the Dallas Mavericks to bring back Boban Marjanovic, but it was far more their most impactful move of the offseason.
