Biggest question heading into 2022 offseason: 1. How can Dallas Mavericks build a title contender?
The Mavs reached the Western Conference Finals and proved they can be a force in the playoffs. Golden State was the better team as they head to their sixth NBA Finals in the last eight years. The Warriors are the team Dallas is chasing, and the Mavericks are still a few pieces short of serious title contention.
Reggie Bullock and Dorian Finney-Smith led the league in playoff minutes and distance traveled as head coach Jason Kidd did not have any other trusted options on the wings that could defend the opposition’s best scorers. The Mavs must improve their wing depth if they plan on continuing to go small and spreading the floor in the postseason.
Dallas will also be searching for a starting center this summer and a second star. The Mavericks had six trusted rotation players in these playoffs. They would love to add some depth with their ideal offseason being trading for another star that knocks every player down a rung on the pecking order.
The Dallas Mavericks made the conference finals, and Luka Doncic is only getting better from here. How can they build a title contender around the 23-year-old? What pieces do they add this offseason? Will they fit? It is an important summer for the Mavs as they look to add the final pieces in building a championship contender.
