Prediction for Dallas Mavericks acquisition Sterling Brown: Sets new career-high in minutes
Brown is coming off a career year for the Rockets where he averaged 8.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 0.7 steals in 24.1 minutes per game. The 6’5 wing shot 42.3 percent from 3-point range and offers a nice mix of defense and shooting. The 2017 second-round draft pick continues to improve and should just be entering his prime.
The Mavs immediately set their sights on signing Sterling Brown. The rumors were leaking out days before free agency opened. New general manager and president of basketball operations Nico Harrison eyed shooting and defense to put around Luka Doncic, which made Brown a prime target.
He set a new career-high by playing 1,229 minutes last season in Houston, but that mark does not last long as Brown breaks it this year in Dallas. Head coach Jason Kidd helped bring him to the Bucks in 2017, and he wanted him on the Mavericks. Dallas lacks wing depth and needs Brown to eat up minutes at two and three this season.
Expect Sterling Brown to average over 25 minutes per game and play in 60-plus contests for the first time. It will be a career-year for the 26-year-old too.
