Players Dallas Mavericks fans don't want on the court: 1. Rajon Rondo
Rajon Rondo is the most infamous Maverick after he quit on the team in 2015. He selfishly made the dumbest fouls a player can make, and it was blatantly obvious that it was on purpose. This was a point guard who was not only an NBA Champion with the Boston Celtics but a player who was praised for his high basketball IQ.
If fans go back and watch those clips of Rondo "guarding" James Harden, they will never know how highly regarded he is because all anyone can see is a player, no, a former respected player and NBA champion, who is conducting himself like a toddler on the court during a playoff series against one of the Maverick's biggest rivals, the Houston Rockets.
This one didn't just hurt Mavs fans because Rondo quit on the team on national TV. It didn't pain them that he was averaging his second-lowest points per game in his career at 9.3 or by far his lowest career number in assists at that point with a measly 6.5. It hurt because of how embarrassing it was to watch. What he did reflected back on the Mavericks franchise as a whole, and it's a straight-up embarrassment to have a player conduct himself like that on national TV.
"Playoff Rondo" isn't a thing and never will be because Rondo only feels like playing if there's something in it for him. The Dallas Mavericks benched him following his child-like behavior in game two and announced the next day that he was ruled out for the rest of the series. Rondo never wore a Dallas Mavericks uniform again and every Dallas fan couldn't be happier and none of them are looking forward to seeing his name on the new court.
