No-brainer trade Dallas Mavericks should make before deadline: 2. Get Anunoby

The Raptors have a ton of talent, but they are currently 11th in the Eastern Conference and six games under .500. Toronto needs to shake up its roster, and they could be the hub of the trade deadline activity. The Raptors are likely to shop Pascal Siakam, Fred VanVleet, OG Anunoby, and Gary Trent Jr., and their front office has difficult decisions on which players to move before Feb. 9.

Doug Smith of the Toronto Star detailed the asking price for each of the players in a recent piece, and it is OG Anunoby that looks most attainable for Dallas. Toronto wants two young talents and a first-round pick for the talented 25-year-old, and the Mavericks could offer this package.

The prices for Siakam and VanVleet are above what the Mavericks can afford because Toronto wants multiple young pieces and multiple picks. Dallas just does not have enough capital to pull off that type of deal, and Trent Jr. does not move the needle enough for the Mavs to trade away a first-round pick.

Anunoby would immediately be the Mavericks' second-best player, and he would be able to let his offensive game blossom in Dallas. The 6’7 wing is a plus defender and a career 37.1 percent 3-point shooter, but he could handle the ball and create a bit more on the Mavericks. Jason Kidd emphasizes defense, so trading for an elite wing defender could help Dallas take the next step.

Losing Josh Green and Jaden Hardy would hurt, but Dallas would still have multiple first-round picks to trade this summer as they look to further improve their roster around number 77. Acquiring a second All-Star with Anuoby as the third scorer would make Dallas a feared team with championship potential.
