Most likely Dallas Mavericks to be traded this offseason: 3. Tim Hardaway Jr.
Hardaway Jr. would likely be a bit higher on this list, but he is still recovering from midseason foot surgery. The 6’5 wing noted he had about one month left before getting fully cleared during his exit interview. The Mavs would have loved to have his shooting and scoring during the postseason, but his surgery forced him to be part of the team’s bench mob.
Before the injury, Hardaway Jr. struggled in head coach Jason Kidd’s system. He averaged 14.2 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 0.9 steals in 29.6 minutes per game while shooting 39.4 percent from the field and 33.6 percent on his threes.
THJ is a proven shooter and scorer that has three years and $53.7 million left on his declining scale contract. The 30-year-old is a career 35.8 percent shooter, and he is likely the key to the Mavericks acquiring another star. Hardaway Jr. has value across the league and his $19.6 million salary for next season is a strong start in matching a $30-plus million deal.
Expect the Mavs front office to explore THJ’s market this offseason. They shopped him at the deadline and will do so again this summer as they look to upgrade their roster.
