Most likely Dallas Mavericks to be traded this offseason: 4. Josh Green
The Mavs selected Josh Green with the 18th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, but he barely played as a rookie. Green was selected by the old regime, but head coach Jason Kidd talked about helping the 6’5 wing develop from his opening press conference.
The 21-year-old improved in his second season as he jumped into the rotation in late December and stuck through the first round of the playoffs. Green is still working on his jumper, and teams were willing to leave him wide open in the postseason. He must improve his offensive game if he wants to stay on the floor when the games matter most.
The Mavericks want to upgrade their roster this summer. They likely do not have the pieces to acquire a superstar but expect them to plug some holes in their roster with veterans. Josh Green represents a young piece that a rebuilding team can look to develop. The 21-year-old already plays impactful defense and has a developing offensive game.
Green is set to make just over $3 million next season with a club option in his contract for the 2023-2024 campaign at $4.7 million before he enters restricted free agency in 2024. It will be interesting to see if any team values Josh Green over a draft pick this summer.
