Dallas Mavericks starters after signing Goran Dragic
Dragic has been a starter for most of his career, but he settled into the sixth man role in each of the last two seasons for the Miami Heat. The Mavs need his ball-handling and secondary creation, plus they will want to watch his minutes closely to keep him healthy for the playoffs. There starting five this season after signing Goran Dragic likely looks like this.
PG: Luka Doncic
SG: Tim Hardaway Jr.
SF: Reggie Bullock
PF: Dorian Finney-Smith
C: Kristaps Porzingis
The Mavs have plenty of lineup flexibility, but their best bet is playing small and putting four shooters around superstar Luka Doncic. Kristaps Porzingis will be his primary pick and roll partner this season. Expect new head coach Jason Kidd to have the Mavericks moving more without the ball and trying to create wide-open threes and dunks.
Starting Dorian Finney-Smith, Reggie Bullock, and Tim Hardaway Jr. gives the Mavs the best chance to excel on both ends of the floor. Those three can switch on pick and rolls as they attempt to slow down the opposition’s top creators.
Adding Dragic gives the Dallas Mavericks an outstanding bench featuring multiple options to turn to when the going gets difficult.
