After a disheartening, 131-110 In-Season Tournament loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, the Dallas Mavericks seemed eager to remind fans of the true identity of this team with a stellar performance against the Washington Wizards, reclaiming their stride and momentum.

The team's ability to bounce back showcased their determination, turning the page on an ugly loss. They seek to wrap up their road trip on a positive note against the Milwaukee Bucks this weekend.

Mavericks flip the script after ugly loss with gutsy win in Washington

Beyond Luka Doncic, the Mavericks had multiple players looking determined to get back a win after the previous performance. Tim Hardaway Jr. (31 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists) and Derrick Jones Jr. (20 points, and 7 rebounds) were major contributors in the win against Washington as they spaced the floor and became the offense in the absence of Kyrie Irving.

Mavericks star rookie Dereck Lively II also was a big factor in the win, as he scored a career-high 17 points and grabbed nine boards. Lively II is surpassing expectations like no other, and he is definitely making one of the biggest impacts as a rookie around the league.

In Irving's absence, Seth Curry seamlessly assumed the role of bench scorer, notching an impressive 20 points and hitting both 3-point attempts. Surprisingly, Jaden Hardy saw limited playtime, hinting at a potential minutes-sharing dynamic with Curry. The team faces a choice between Curry's experience and Hardy's potential, adding an intriguing subplot to the team's storyline down the road.

The Mavericks improve to 3-0 on the season without Kyrie Irving and 9-3 overall and look to add on another road win against the Bucks on November 18. The dynamic of this team is better than we all expected and, need to embrace the fact that while it's the Luka and Kyrie show, Dallas has other contributors who look to make them a real contender.

Stay tuned all season for the latest updates on Dereck Lively II, Tim Hardaway Jr., and the Dallas Mavericks.
