Dallas Mavericks draft target to watch in 2022 March Madness: 2. Blake Wesley

First-round game: Norte Dame vs Rutgers (play-in game): March 16 at 8:10 p.m. CT on truTv

The Fighting Irish face Rutgers on Wednesday evening to see who gets the 11th seed in the West Regional and the right to face Alabama in the Round of 64 on Friday. It should be an exciting first four contest that could literally go either way.

Few expected Wesley to be a one-and-done prospect coming into the season, but the 19-year-old is getting plenty of draft buzz and a strong performance in the NCAA Tournament will only take that to another level. The 6’5 wing averaged 14.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.2 steals in 28.9 minutes per game so far this season.

His near seven-foot wingspan and ability to attack off the dribble have scouts intrigued. Wesley needs to improve his jumper and overall scoring efficiency, but the 19-year-old has the potential to be an NBA starter for the next decade-plus. Couple that with his size and some team will take a chance on him in the late first round.

Blake Wesley has a unique opportunity on Wednesday night as everybody will be tuning in for his first four game against Rutgers. Expect a monster performance that cements him as a first-round pick in 2022.
