Center Dallas Mavericks could target this offseason: 2. Myles Turner
There have been plenty of rumblings about the Texas native returning home, and those rumors have intensified as the Pacers look headed towards a rebuild. Turner offers a unique skill set that would be a fantastic fit next to Luka Doncic in Dallas.
The 6’11 big man is one of the best rim protectors in the NBA. He has twice led the league in blocks, including last season when he averaged 3.4 per game. Turner ranks 26th in the NBA in FiveThirtyEight’s Defensive RAPTOR, and he would give the Mavericks the defensive anchor they desire.
The 26-year-old has a unique blend of skills on the offensive end of the floor, including the ability to make threes. He is a career 34.9 percent shooter from downtown and scores 1.16 points per possession as a roll man. Both of those numbers are likely to improve in Dallas playing off Luka Doncic. The Mavericks superstar is an elite shot creator, and he would open up looks for Turner.
Myles Turner has one left on his contract at $18 million. If he refuses an extension, the Indiana Pacers will have to shop him, but what return will they get as he recovers from a foot injury? Could the Dallas Mavericks swing a deal? It is something to watch this offseason.
