Adjustment Dallas Mavericks must make in Game 6 vs. Suns: 2. Go at CP3
The Mavs have attacked Chris Paul in this series, and it has limited the future Hall of Famer over the last three games. CP3 had seven turnovers in Game 3 before fouling out in just 23 minutes in Game 4. Even in Game 5, Paul was limited to seven points, ten assists, and four turnovers on three of eight shooting from the field.
Dallas needs to attack CP3 in Game 6. The Suns have been willing to switch throughout this series, so the Mavs can hunt their matchup and go. If Paul gets switched onto Luka Doncic or Jalen Brunson, Dallas should attack.
The Mavericks played with their food too much in Game 5, so they need to be decisive and keep attacking on Thursday night. Dallas should be looking to get the Suns in foul trouble, and the only way that happens is by going to the basket.
Even if CP3 holds his own, the 37-year-old will have to expend energy guarding Doncic and Brunson. The Suns are going to want Paul closing out the contest if it is late down the stretch. Dallas needs to wear out the veteran point guard by attacking him to limit his effectiveness throughout the game.
