Ranking the Dallas Mavericks trade assets

TIER 2: Tim Hardaway Jr., Dwight Powell, Jaden Hardy, 2025 2nd round pick, 2027 2nd round pick

The Mavs are getting peanuts in return if they just deal these assets. They have traded all but two of their future second-round picks, and their front office is not getting much for those two unless they package them together with more desirable assets.

The Cleveland Cavaliers were rumored to be interested in Tim Hardaway Jr., but they were hesitant to take on his contract. The 30-year-old has two years and $34.1 million left on his deal after this season. He is an important piece for the Mavs and has some value around the league, but Dallas could not acquire a first-round pick if they just moved him in a deal.

Dwight Powell is on an $11 million expiring contract, and he continues to give the team quality minutes at the five. Teams would not be lining up to acquire him, but Powell would have some value across the league if Dallas decided to move on.

Jaden Hardy is the most interesting asset in this tier. He was a second-round pick in the 2022 draft that has shown flashes in his limited playing time. Hardy is a score-first guard that has positive trade value, but Dallas would be acquiring second-round picks if they decided to move the 20-year-old prior to the deadline.
