3 Mavericks that could be axed from the playoff rotation

Dallas Mavericks who could be axed from playoff rotation: 1. Christian Wood
Wood’s playing time is way down since the trade, and he is the most likely player to be axed from the postseason rotation. He continues to produce in his limited playing time, but the fit is just no longer there. Over the last 14 games, Christian Wood averaged 13.3 points and 5.1 rebounds in 19.2 minutes per game.
The 6’10 big man is a fantastic offensive weapon. He can space the floor, post up, and get easy buckets inside. He makes the offense better, but Dallas has two of the best scorers in the NBA in Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. They do not need more offensive production on the floor. Dallas needs defense if they are going to win in the postseason.
Wood’s defense has been well below average this season. He loses his man, fails to play within the team’s defensive scheme, and just gets caught ball-watching far too often. Over the last six games, the Mavericks have been outscored by 48 points in his 116 minutes on the floor. They leak points with C-Wood at the five, and it could keep him on the bench in the playoffs.
