Why Zach LaVine could be the Dallas Mavericks co-star next to Luka Doncic
The Mavs have interest in LaVine, but the Bulls have not put him on the market at this point. Chicago is still hoping to turn their season around and reach the playoffs, and Wednesday's overtime win against the Milwaukee Bucks was a positive step. The Bulls have won four of their last five, and they could decide to improve their roster before the deadline if they can make a large enough push.
If the Bulls go in the opposite direction, rival execs believe they will be open to a fire sale. That will make LaVine available, but he will have no shortage of suitors even with his history of knee issues and long-term contract. The 6’5 wing is in the middle of his prime and still putting up monster numbers. LaVine could make his third straight All-Star team in February, and he remains one of the best scorers in the league.
The Dallas Mavericks are going to be in on the next All-Star that becomes available, and they just might have enough to land Zach LaVine. They are hoping for a bigger fish, but getting an elite scorer and athlete to play next to Luka Doncic is something to consider.
Will the Mavs acquire LaVine? If they do, will his knees hold up throughout his current five-year contract? Those are questions that will soon be answered, but he could certainly be starring next to Luka shortly.
The trade rumors are just starting to heat up, and there will be plenty of Dallas Mavericks chatter in the six-ish weeks before the deadline. Stay tuned for all the latest.
