The Dallas Mavericks have made some moves this offseason, but they do not appear done. They added Christian Wood and JaVale McGee to improve their rebounding and big man depth, but the Mavs lost Jalen Brunson in free agency. Dallas desperately needs another ball-handler on their roster that can play with Luka Doncic and Spencer Dinwiddie.

The Mavericks do not have cap space, and the free agent market for point guards is thin at this point in the offseason. They will likely need to acquire the playmaker via trade. Can president of basketball operations and general manager Nico Harrison find the right deal?

The Utah Jazz appear headed towards a total rebuild after the Mavs knocked them out in the first round of the playoffs. Rudy Gobert was traded to Minnesota for a massive haul, and the Jazz are now listening to offers on Donovan Mitchell. Utah’s rebuild makes them the most likely team for Dallas to trade with this summer.

The Mavs do not have the assets to trade for Donovan Mitchell or any star player. They owe their 2023 first-round pick with a top ten protection to the New York Knicks from the original Kristaps Porzingis trade, and Dallas does not have any young desirable trade assets other than the untouchable Luka Doncic.

The Dallas Mavericks could add an impactful role player that improves their chances of a deep playoff run, and the Utah Jazz are selling multiple options. Here are five trades the two sides could make that would help both accomplish their offseason objectives.
