Trade Dallas Mavericks should make after Jalen Brunson's departure: 3. Get Pat Bev
The Timberwolves traded Patrick Beverley to Utah in the Rudy Gobert blockbuster, but the Jazz are not done making moves. They have traded Royce O’Neale and Gobert already with Mike Conley and Bojan Bogdanovic still on the block. Add Beverley and his $13 million expiring contract to the list of available assets.
The Mavericks are searching for a 3-and-D wing that can space the floor and defend on the ball. Beverley offers that, plus needed second playmaking ability after the loss of Jalen Brunson.
The Mavericks could go multiple different ways with their offer here, but Beverley’s contract cannot be aggregated with another player because he was just traded. Dwight Powell and Josh Green could also be moved to make the salaries match here.
Dallas would prefer to move Bertans and his massive contract. If the Jazz are rebuilding, they may not be afraid to take on his money as they add to their massive stockpile for picks. Utah picked up four, including three unprotected in the Rudy Gobert trade, and another one here gives Danny Ainge the capital to make a massive move.
Do not be surprised to see Pat Bev on the move again this offseason, and he would be the perfect fit in Dallas.
