5 trade deadline targets for the Dallas Mavericks

Dallas Mavericks trade deadline target: 1. John Collins
The Mavs have been linked to Collins for well over one year now. The 6’9 forward was a free agent last summer before re-signing with the Hawks to a five-year deal worth $125 million. Things have not gone as planned in Atlanta this season, and Collins is rumored to be back on the trade block ahead of the deadline.
The 24-year-old is averaging 16.7 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.2 blocks in 31. 6 minutes per game in what many are calling a down year. He is shooting 53.9 percent from the field and 39.3 percent on his threes. Collins continues to improve and is an underrated big man.
The Mavericks should be trying to pry John Collins away from the Hawks. The fit next to Kristaps Porzingis is not perfect, but both men can space the floor and be Luka Doncic’s pick and roll partner. On the defensive end, it would need some working out, but Dallas should always be looking to add young talent.
