Dallas Mavericks biggest threat in Western Conference: 1. Lakers

Any team featuring LeBron James is always one of the biggest threats because he has been to the NBA Finals ten times and won four rings in his 18 NBA seasons. King James is still the toughest out in the playoffs, even at 36 years old.

The Lakers traded for Russell Westbrook this offseason and completely remade the team around LeBron and Anthony Davis. Only four players return from last year’s roster. Expect Los Angeles to come out of the gate slow as they look to find cohesion and their preferred rotation. Head coach Frank Vogel has a ton of options and will need time to figure out what works.

The Lakers are one of the worst matchups for the Dallas Mavericks. LeBron can guard Luka Doncic and keep him from completely going off, while Anthony Davis smothers Kristaps Porzingis. The addition of Russell Westbrook provides plenty of opportunities for rest and experimentation. The Lakers are one of the most interesting teams heading into training camp.

The Dallas Mavericks should finish in the top four in the Western Conference and win their first playoff series since taking home the championship in 2011. That would be a successful season for the organization. Fans must stay tuned to see if they can get the job done.
