Thing casual fans need to know about the Dallas Mavericks: 1. Luka’s better than ever
If you haven’t been paying attention, what you missed most was Luka Doncic taking his game to another level. He is in the conversation for best player in the world as the three-time All-Star is producing insane numbers. Doncic averages 32.8 points, 8.7 assists, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 49.7 percent from the field and 35.2 percent on his 3-point tries.
Luka gets zero easy looks. The defense is always keyed on him, but it does not matter. Doncic is just too good. Teams are just hoping they can slow him down at this point, but even that has not worked this season.
The NBA released Luka’s best plays of the season two weeks ago, which fans can see below.
There was only one problem. Number 77 had so many highlights and jaw-dropping plays that they could not fit them all in one video. Just five days later, the NBA released a second highlight reel to showcase Luka.
Luka’s biggest improvement may be his defense. He is better than ever on the ball, and his steals have skyrocketed this season. Doncic will not get the credit he deserves because he is far from a lockdown option, but the 6’7 point guard has made massive improvements on that end of the floor.
Watching Luka Doncic is always worth the price of admission. The Dallas Mavericks may play slow and rely too heavily on 3-point shooting, but number 77 always gives fans something to cheer about. The team needs him to have a monster game to have a chance to win, and Luka keeps delivering.
Will the Mavericks get back on track and finish in the top six in the Western Conference? Does Luka Doncic make an MVP push after the calendar flips to 2023? Will Dallas make another playoff run? Stay tuned to find out.
