Josh Green sinking corner 3-pointers could earn him a place in Dallas Mavericks rotation

Josh Green was arguably the most impressive player during the session. The 2020 first-round pick has struggled in his first two seasons in the NBA, but the 6’5 wing keeps improving. He spent most of his summer in Las Vegas working on his game, and the time in the gym paid off during Friday’s practice.

Green nailed multiple corner 3-pointers, played sturdy defense, and even had a fancy finish inside during the one-on-one drills against the big men. The 21-year-old has struggled on the offensive end of the floor, and it has kept him from playing more. It was fantastic to see Green nailing some corner jumpers and showcasing an improved offensive skill set.

The Mavericks need another ball-handler, and coach Kidd talked about Frank Ntilikina and Green competing for that spot during training camp. It appeared Green was playing as more of a 3-and-D wing during practice, and that is likely his best role moving forward.

Can Josh Green carve out a place in the Mavericks rotation? He played 15.5 minutes per over 67 games last season, but the 6’5 wing was played off the floor in the playoffs. Green is looking to have a breakout third season, and his improved jumper could be the key to that.
