Takeaway from Dallas Mavericks loss to Thunder: 1. Luka shows how special he is

Luka had one of his worst games of the last four years, and he still wound up with a 31-point triple-double. He struggled to find his shot on Saturday night. Credit Lu Dort and the Thunder defense for forcing tough shots and making Doncic rely on his teammates on Saturday night. Fans know number 77 is never afraid to find help, and he always puts a bit of extra flare on it.

Luka’s jump shooting woes continued, and he is just ten of 44 from 3-point range through the team’s first five games. He needs to find his shot, and his shooting woes carried over to the rest of the squad on Saturday night.

Number 77 finished with 31 points, 16 rebounds, ten assists, and one steal in 40 minutes of action before fouling out in overtime. Doncic was eight of 23 from the field, including missing all six of his 3-pointers on Saturday night. He made 15 of 19 from the foul line. It was an incredible stat line on an off night for Luka, but his minus-25 was the reason the Mavericks lost to the Thunder.

It was a head-scratching loss as the Dallas Mavericks blew the game with their superstar on the floor. He rested as they made their run to start the fourth, only to be part of the team giving it away. Fans can bet Doncic will be eager to bounce back from this one.
