Shocking stat from Dallas Mavericks after 6 games: 1. Luka averaging over 36 points per game

Luka Doncic had a full summer of basketball with the Slovenian National Team, and he entered the season fresh off EuroBasket. He was in mid-season form from opening night, and the results have been unbelievable. Luka has scored 30-plus in all six games so far this season and has the Mavericks producing the best offensive rating in NBA history.

Doncic has two of the five triple-double produced so far this season, and he has scored 220 points in 220.4 minutes of action. After six games his minutes and points per game are identical at 36.7 a night. Scoring is way up to begin the season with 11 players averaging over 30 points per game, but number 77 is 2.3 per game ahead of the second-leading scorer, Giannis Antetokounmpo.

There is no stopping Luka, so teams have gone the other way in the early going. They are often letting Doncic go off, so they can stick to shooters and try to keep the other Mavericks in check. It has allowed the 23-year-old superstar to feast in the early going, and teams will switch things up throughout the year to try to keep Doncic guessing.

dark. Next. Should Mavs be worried about JaVale McGee's slow start?

Can Luka Doncic lead the NBA in scoring for the first time in his career? Will the Dallas Mavericks have the best offense in the league? Time will tell, but fans certainly won’t want to miss it, so please stay tuned.
