Dallas Mavericks closing lineup option: 1. Coach Kidd’s preferred so far
Spencer Dinwiddie has played 13.2 clutch minutes so far this season to just five for Tim Hardaway Jr., so he has been the preferred option after six games. There will be a lot of close games this season given the parity across the league, so it will be interesting to see if Kidd continues to prefer this lineup.
PG: Luka Doncic
SG: Spencer Dinwiddie
SF: Reggie Bullock
PF: Dorian Finney-Smith
C: Maxi Kleber
Dinwiddie adds that extra ball-handling and playmaking to complement Luka Doncic in the backcourt. He got the chance to close some tight games last season, and fans know Dinwiddie can make clutch shots, especially if the defense forgets about him.
Maxi Kleber, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Reggie Bullock all provide floor spacing and defense. They will guard the opposition’s top three scoring threats, and let Doncic and Dinwiddie handle the heavy lifting on the offensive end of the floor.
The Dallas Mavericks have not settled their closing lineup, and head coach Jason Kidd is still experimenting with combinations, but expect him to go with this group on most nights. It provides the defense and shot creation he wants on the floor in crunch time. Expect the Mavs to solve their clutch woes, and finish as one of the top four teams in the Western Conference again this season.
