Dallas Mavericks closing lineup option: 4. THJ and C-Wood join the fold
With three locks among the seven players being considered for the closing lineup, it is basically four players for two spots with two specific position battles. Here Tim Hardaway Jr. gets the edge over Spencer Dinwiddie and Christian Wood gets the call over Maxi Kleber.
PG: Luka Doncic
SG: Tim Hardaway Jr.
SF: Reggie Bullock
PF: Dorian Finney-Smith
C: Christian Wood
This lineup maximizes the team’s floor spacing in crunch time as Luka is surrounded by four elite shooters. The defense would be questionable at best, especially with C-Wood at the five. Most teams are playing small in their closing group, so Wood would need to be able to defend on the perimeter and within the Mavericks' scheme.
Hardaway Jr. offers more shooting than Spencer Dinwiddie, but the decision likely comes down to who is hot. Dinwiddie gives Dallas a downhill attacking threat and more shot creation. THJ can create his own shot, but he will not be dishing out many dimes.
The Dallas Mavericks will experiment with this group, but head coach Jason Kidd would prefer to have more defense on the floor as his team looks to finish off a close win.
