Trade to make Dallas Mavericks title contenders: 1. Lillard comes to Dallas

Damian Lillard is the superstar that is most likely to demand a trade this offseason. The 31-year-old guard played just 29 games this season because of an abdominal injury, and the Trail Blazers won just 27 games and traded away his backcourt partner CJ McCollum. Portland tore down their roster, and Lillard would be leading a retooling team next season if he stays.

Dame has the power to choose where he plays next if asks out of Portland, and here is what a deal could look like if he demands a trade to Dallas.

Why would the six-time All-Star choose the Mavericks? It gives him a chance to play with a young superstar in Luka Doncic, and Dallas is a team with enough shooting and role players to instantly vault into title contention. Consider it like Chris Paul joining the Suns to team with Devin Booker.

The Doncic and Lillard backcourt would be unstoppable, and the Mavs would have Spencer Dinwiddie coming off the bench to give them one of the best offenses in the league. After this deal, Dallas would be looking to add a center that could protect the rim to round out their title-contending roster.

Remember, Lillard wanted Jason Kidd to be the coach of the Blazers before he signed in Dallas.
