Trade to make Dallas Mavericks title contenders: 2. Blockbuster sign-and-trade with Pacers

The Pacers will be looking to shake up their roster this summer after a disappointing season, and they are rumored to be interested in Mavs guard Jalen Brunson. Former Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle has always been a massive fan of JB, and he would love to put him in the backcourt next to Tyrese Haliburton in Indiana.

The Pacers also want to trade Malcolm Brogdon this summer, so could the two sides pull off a blockbuster sign-and-trade?

Brogdon is the perfect replacement if the Mavericks are going to lose Brunson this offseason. During the 2020-2021 season, he averaged 21.2 points, 5.9 assists, 5.3 rebounds, and 0.9 steals per game on 45.3 percent shooting from the field, 38.8 percent on his threes, and 86.4 percent from the foul line.

Dallas also solves their rebounding and rim protection issues by adding Myles Turner. Both Pacers are coming off injuries that caused them to miss significant stretches, so their value should be slightly depressed. It would be interesting to see if the Mavs could get this trade done without giving up any draft pick compensation.

Losing Jalen Brunson and Tim Hardaway Jr. would sting, but the Dallas Mavericks become title contenders if Brogdon and Turner stay healthy and consistently knock down 3-pointers playing off superstar Luka Doncic.
