What do Dallas Mavericks still need after Christian Wood trade? 2. 3-and-D wing
The Mavs need more wing depth heading into next season. Dorian Finney-Smith and Reggie Bullock each played over 38 minutes per game and ran more than 49.5 miles while on the court in the postseason. The duo played so well that head coach Jason Kidd was reluctant to take them off the floor.
The Mavericks need another 3-and-D wing that can space the floor, play stout perimeter defense, and provide depth. This player gives Doe-Doe and Bullock a chance to rest and optimize their production in the postseason.
Can Tim Hardaway Jr. fill this role? He is more of a scoring guard, but is he the player to provide depth? The Mavericks would like to have a better defender on the wings, but will it force general manager and president of basketball operations Nico Harrison to make a trade? Hardaway Jr. will be ready to play 30-plus minutes per game, but can the Mavericks be a top ten defensive team with THJ filling that role?
The Dallas Mavericks will be looking for another 3-and-D wing this offseason as they look to help Josh Green and Frank Ntilikina grow into this role. Acquiring one won’t come cheap because of the premium placed on them across the league.
