Meet Dallas Mavericks Las Vegas Summer League roster: Jalen Lecque- G

Lecque went undrafted in 2019 after skipping college. He signed with the Phoenix Suns before being traded twice in November 2020. The 22-year-old has been on the floor for a total of 44 minutes over his first three years, but he has played well in the G League.

Last season for the Wisconsin Heard, Lecque averaged 16.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.8 blocks in 29.6 minutes per game over 28 contests. He shot just 42.5 percent from the field and 26.4 percent on his threes, but the 22-year-old has improved every year.

Lecque is going to attack the basket hard, and he is a crafty finisher inside. He dropped 34 points in a G League game last season, and the 6’4 guard should get Dallas playing in transition in Vegas. He earned the nickname “Baby Westbrook”, and fans should expect to see him getting downhill.

Lecque figures to start next to Jaden Hardy in the backcourt for the Mavericks summer league squad, and they will likely split the ball-handling duties. Neither player is a true point guard, so head coach Greg St. Jean figures to do it by committee. Expect to see both players getting plenty of buckets in Las Vegas.
