Internal way Dallas Mavericks can improve this offseason: 1. Luka’s defense
Luka Doncic proved he is one of the best players in the NBA during the team’s playoff run. He was incredible as he averaged over 31 points per game and lifted the Mavericks into the conference finals, but there is one area Luka must improve if the Mavericks are going to win it all.
Doncic was targeted on defense throughout the playoffs and some nights he was just not up to the challenge. The 6’7 guard struggles defending on the perimeter. The opposition would get him involved in the pick and roll and take advantage.
Luka is already working on his game this offseason, and fans can bank on defense being a focus. He took a massive step in his first year under head coach Jason Kidd, but there is more work to be done. Expect Doncic to be better next season as he looks to lift the Mavericks to their second championship in franchise history.
Defense is not the only area where Luka Doncic can improve, but fans have seen a better version every year. The 23-year-old is playing two competitions for the Slovenian National Team this summer, so expect him to be displaying his improvements regularly. Stay tuned for all the latest.
