Grading Bleacher Report’s trade featuring Dallas Mavericks: 2. Secure Bogi
This is a trade the Mavericks should absolutely be looking to do. The Utah Jazz appear headed towards a total rebuild. Rudy Gobert was already traded to Minnesota, and Donovan Mitchell is now on the block. If Mitchell departs, Danny Ainge will be looking to move the Jazz’s veterans as he heads into a total teardown.
Bojan Bogdanovic was one of Utah’s best players against the Mavericks in the first round of the playoffs. The 6’7 forward played stout perimeter defense and scored 18.0 points per game. Dallas should be looking to acquire the veteran to fortify their wing depth.
Dallas Mavericks receive: Bojan Bogdanovic
Utah Jazz acquire: Davis Bertans, Josh Green, First round pick
Bogdanovic is on a $19.3 million expiring contract, so turning the $38 million owed to Bertans over the next three seasons into a production 6’8 wing that can play 30-plus minutes a night in the playoffs makes it a win.
Grade for Bleacher Report’s hypothetical Dallas Mavericks trade for Bojan Bogdanovic: A
Bogdanovic would fit right into the Mavericks system. He takes pride in his defense, and the 33-year-old can space the floor and score. Bogdanovic would make Dallas better, and acquiring him for a first-round pick and salary filler is a fantastic move that earns an A grade.
