Dallas Mavericks grades after 30 percent of the season: Luka Doncic

The Mavs are totally reliant on Luka’s on-court brilliance. They only have two playmakers on their roster, but Dallas is dangerous because Doncic can break down any defense and he always makes the right play. Teams are throwing everything at number 77 to try to slow him down, but nothing has worked.

Doncic is leading the league in scoring at 32.9 points per game, and he is in the top ten in assists and steals each night. Luka has taken a significant step forward on the defensive end of the floor along with being the best offensive engine in the world.

Luka is stating his case for MVP and trying to will the Mavericks to victory every night. He leads the league in triple-doubles, offensive box score plus-minus, and value over replacement player this season, and the Mavs superstar is arguably the best player on the planet right now.

The Dallas Mavericks cannot ask Luka Doncic to play any better. The 23-year-old has been outstanding to begin the season. Yes, his 3-point percentage will continue to rise, and he needs to make more free throws, but Dallas would be lottery-bound without Doncic. Expect Luka to continue his impressive play as he chases his first NBA MVP honors.
