The Dallas Mavericks offseason has not gone to plan so far. Brining back Jalen Brunson was the team’s top priority, but he chose to join the New York Knicks. President of basketball operations and general manager Nico Harrison has pivoted to filling holes in their roster as the Mavs signed JaVale McGee, drafted Jaden Hardy, and traded for Christian Wood.

Dallas addressed their rebounding and rim protection issues around superstar Luka Doncic, but they have a newly created hole in the backcourt and an existing one on the wing. Dorian Finney-Smith and Reggie Bullock each carried massive workloads in the postseason because head coach Jason Kidd did not have another trusted wing option, and Brunson’s departure leaves the Mavericks one ball-handler short.

Re-signing Theo Pinson and guaranteeing the contracts of Maxi Kleber and Frank Ntilikina puts the Mavericks roster at 14 players. Fans thought their final roster spot was headed to Goran Dragic before the veteran guard signed with the Bulls on July 3. Dallas only has a minimum contract to hand out in free agency, but who is available to fill it?

The Mavs have 14 players under contract on July 4, but it may not stay that way. They used their taxpayer mid-level exception on JaVale McGee, which left a hole on the wing. Acquiring an option there could come via trade, and the team’s front office is searching for the right deal.

If the Dallas Mavericks decide to round out their roster with a free agent, who could they add? Here are the team's top targets to fill their 15-man unit.
