Dallas Mavericks power forward depth chart after Kemba Walker signing

This group often features two of the Mavs closing five players. Head coach Jason Kidd wants defense in that group, and two of his best defenders primarily play this position.

Starter: Dorian Finney-Smith

Finney-Smith is off to a slow start, but he has shown signs of a turnaround. He is averaging just 9.3 points on 42.1 percent shooting from the field and 33.7 percent on his threes so far. Those numbers will improve, and they have shown signs in the last three games of doing just that.

Backup: Maxi Kleber

Kleber has played significant minutes with Christian Wood this season, so fans can decide who is the four or five. Maxi is tasked with the primary inside defensive responsibilities, but he plays more like a wing on the offensive end with Wood setting screens and operating as the five.

Regardless, Kleber remains a key part of the rotation that will continue to see clutch minutes no matter how much fans want Wood on the floor over him.

Third-string: Davis Bertans

Bertans missed nearly all of training camp and the first 13 games of the season with a knee injury, but head coach Jason Kidd has not been shy about inserting him since he returned. The Mavs need more offense, and Bertans can hit threes. It gives the opposition another player to worry about, and fans should expect Bertans to continue to play that role moving forward.
