Dallas Mavericks power forward depth chart after flashy guard signing
This is arguably the team’s deepest position with Christian Wood likely to log minutes here. Dallas has depth, and they plan to use it over the 82-game regular season.
Starter: Dorian Finney-Smith
Doe-Doe will be second on the team in minutes behind superstar Luka Doncic. He is the team’s best defender, and one of the most underrated 3-and-D options in the league. He deserves consideration for the All-Defensive teams, and Finney-Smith has shot over 39 percent from 3-point range for two straight years.
Backup: Maxi Kleber
Kleber was the team’s go-to center during their run to the conference finals, and the 6’10 big man will see plenty of minutes this season.
His unique ability to defend on the perimeter, protect the rim, and knock down threes earned him a three-year contract extension this offseason. Expect him to play around 25 minutes per game and that could expand the playoffs as the Mavericks play the matchups.
Third string: Davis Bertans
Bertans is a 3-point specialist that will get opportunities to play this season. He will be outside the regular rotation, but coach Kidd will give him chances to come in and get hot from downtown. Bertans struggles on defense, but his shooting can impact a game.
